Torremolinos is the most well-known municipality on the Costa del Sol. This town has been the most important tourist destination in Andalusia for several decades. It is located just 13 km from the centre of Malaga, the provincial capital, and very well connected by train and bus. In addition, it is only 8 km from the city’s airport. The beginnings of Torremolinos

Currently it is especially visited by British, German, Irish, French, Scandinavian and Spanish tourists. It also holds one of the largest British colonies in Spain.

Furthermore this town is also the main gay destination in Spain. In fact, the first gay bar in Spain was opened here in 1962. It currently has many gay bars and gay friendly-beach areas. Since 2017, it has an exclusively gay only hotel, located two minutes from the beach.

How to get to Torremolinos?
Torremolinos is very well connected thanks to the cercanias train. This one allows you to go directly to the airport, the train station or the centre of Malaga.
From Malaga to Torremolinos by train
In Malaga you can take the local train at the “Málaga-Alameda Centro” stop or at the María Zambrano train station. The “Málaga-Alameda Centro” stop is the closest one to the centre, only five minutes away by foot. To get off at Torremolinos you have several options:
- “Los Alamos”: which drops you in an area close to the beach.
- “La Colina”: a little closer to the town and the beach.
- “Torremolinos”: stop that drops you at the main square of the town.
The first train in the direction of Torremolinos leaves at 5:20 a.m. and the last one at 11:30 p.m. The frequency is approximately 15-20 minutes. The total journey time is 22 minutes, and the price of a one-way ticket is €1,80.

Buses to Torremolinos leave from the Alameda Principal. These are the Metropolitan Transport buses of the Málaga Area: M-110 Málaga-Benalmádena Costa and M-320 Málaga-Marbella.
